Lukhvinder has developed a very busy practice in which she regularly represents local authorities. Lukhvinder receives repeat instructions from local authorities given her attention to detail, precise drafting, ability to give clear advice, work under pressure and manage deadlines.

Lukhvinder has an equally busy practice representing parents, other family members and children. She prides herself on focusing on the need to sensitively represent parents during what are emotionally challenging circumstances whilst robustly representing their interests within proceedings.

Lukhvinder welcomes active discussion of cases with her instructing solicitors and tries to ensure continuity of representation in all cases on which she is instructed.

Lukhvinder undertakes all types of public law hearings at all levels of court and has experience in cases involving alleged sexual abuse, inflicted injury, chronic neglect, domestic abuse and alcohol and substance misuse.

Private Law

Lukhvinder accepts instructions from local authorities requiring representation at hearings in private law proceedings.

Lukhvinder also accepts instructions to represent children (Rule 16.4 Guardian appointments) particularly in those cases which involve complex issues arising from alleged sexual abuse, significant parental conflict and parental alienation.

Lukhvinder was led by Miss Gwyneth Knowles KC representing the mother in a fact-finding and final hearing regarding the death of a baby and the placement of her sibling.

Lukhvinder represented the mother in relation to the issue of whether, and, if so, in what form the fact-finding judgment in the care proceedings should be published. This was one of the first cases to be considered following the 2014 Practice Guidance, ‘Transparency in the Family Courts’ being issued by the President of the Family Division.

W (A Child: Leave To Oppose Adoption) [2020] EWCA Civ 16

Having represented the father throughout earlier concluded care proceedings, Lukhvinder was instructed to represent the father in the Court of Appeal as a respondent in a successful appeal against refusal to grant leave to oppose the making of an adoption order.

A Local Authority v BB & Ors [2022] EWFC 105

Lukhvinder was led by Miss Sara Lewis KC representing a family member in a complex case involving alleged inflicted injuries sustained in the first hours and weeks of life.
