Olivia Gatfield Joins Nine Chambers as Tenant

Nine Chambers is pleased to announce that Olivia Gatfield has become a tenant following the successful completion of her pupillage under Geoff Whelan.

Olivia was called to the Bar in July 2021 after completing the Bar Professional Training Course at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Before commencing pupillage, Olivia gained significant experience in criminal law as a criminal defence paralegal, assisting on cases in both the Crown Court and Magistrates’ Court. Her work involved trial preparation, gathering mitigation material, and supporting on cases including sexual offences, drug offences and murder.

In addition, she worked as a paralegal on negligence and human rights claims relating to the physical and sexual abuse of children, and represented appellants in the Criminal Injuries Compensation First-Tier Tribunal.

Olivia also worked as a County Court Advocate for a personal injury firm, where she was instructed on hearings including PTRs, interim applications, infant approval hearings and small claims.

She now joins Chambers as a member of the Criminal Practice Group.
