We are delighted to announce that Sophie Kenny has joined Nine Chambers, strengthening our crime team.
Called in 2017, Sophie is an established barrister with a busy practice spanning the full range of serious crime. She prosecutes and defends in equal measure, with particular experience in drug conspiracies, serious violence and firearms offences, and serious sexual offences. She has appeared as junior alone and as led junior in cases including multi-handed conspiracies to supply Class A drugs, “one-punch” manslaughter, organised child sexual exploitation, and conspiracies to convert and supply firearms.
Sophie also has a developing inquests and inquiries practice. She has previously assisted with the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry and the Covid-19 Inquiry through the Attorney General’s Junior Junior Scheme, and has represented interested persons in Article 2 inquests, including a nine-week series of concurrent inquests into the deaths of care home residents where her written submissions were described by the Coroner as “integral” to the conclusions reached.
Sophie accepts instructions across all of her practice areas. To instruct her, please contact the clerks.
