Overview

Michael joined Chambers in September 2026 as a Personal Injury Pupil, under the supervision of Zoe Thompson and David Calvert.

In 2019, Michael completed his undergraduate studies in law at Bangor University in North Wales and Universite Toulouse 1 Capitole in France. During his undergraduate studies, Michael was the director of StreetLaw, a pro bono legal rights project across North Wales widening access, awareness and education around legal rights in areas including consumer law, stop and search, employment and anti-social behaviour. Michael regularly took part in mooting at university, national and international level and was awarded the Bangor University Exceptional Advocacy Award in 2017. During this time, he also worked on government consultations and assisted with the running of the Bangor Centre for International Law.

Between his studies and the Bar Course, amongst other roles, Michael worked abroad in Hangzhou, China as a Foreign English Teacher and worked as the Clerk to both the Administrative Court and the Upper Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) in Manchester, assisting High Court Judges on matters of public law, judicial review and immigration. 

Michael subsequently completed his Bar Practice Course and Masters in Law with The University of Law in July 2024 and was called to the Bar in October 2024 by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, having previously been awarded their Kennedy Scholarship. During his Bar Course year, Michael completed pro-bono work, advising on employment law and representing clients in the First-Tier Tribunal (Social Entitlement Chamber). He also completed mini-pupillages and both Crown Court and High Court marshalling.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Michael worked as a paralegal as part of a busy clinical negligence and serious personal injury firm in Manchester. In this role, he managed his own caseload alongside aiding solicitors, Counsel and experts on complex, high-value clinical negligence matters. In addition, Michael conducted client and expert conferences, attended inquests, mediations and joint settlement meetings and advised on case prospects and quantum. Michael also undertook County Court advocacy during this period across England and Wales for a national personal injury firm. 

Michael is also fluent in French thanks to his time abroad and is highly proficient in German.
