The Clinical Negligence Group at Nine Chambers offers a specialised service at all levels of seniority to both Claimants and Defendants in claims arising out of negligent medical, dental and cosmetic treatment at both County Court and High Court Level.
Members have considerable breadth of experience including claims arising out of consent issues, failures in diagnosis, delays in diagnosis, negligent surgery, ophthalmic care, obstetrics, anaesthetics and complex multi-disciplinary cases.
Members of the group regularly act in inquests where clinical care is in issue including Article 2 inquests, suicides and cases involving children, and benefit from one member being an Assistant Deputy Coroner. We also regularly act for the GMC and provide advice in GMC and other regulatory proceedings, such as in the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
In addition, our group has considerable expertise in Travel Law, including cross-border claims for medical negligence and involving jurisdictional issues relating to medical treatment abroad. The Group are also currently expanding into Court of Protection and Mental Health Law and are very keen to further develop its expertise in this area.
Members regularly provide training and seminars to both solicitors and medical professionals and welcome further interest in this regard.
