Overview
Anita is now in the second six of her pupillage and accepts instructions under the supervision of Robert Darbyshire across chambers’ broad range of commercial and chancery work.
Anita’s Business and Property pupillage began in September 2025. During the first six of her pupillage, she was under the supervision of David Gilchrist and Andrew Clark.
During the non-practising period of her pupillage Anita has observed a wide variety of Business & Property matters in the County Court, High Court, Land Registry Tribunal, First-tier Tribunal (Tax Chamber) and in mediations.
These include:
- Contractual disputes (such as debt and fraudulent misrepresentation claims);
- Probate proceedings (such as removal of trustees, removal and substitution of personal representatives, appointment of independent personal representatives, and testamentary capacity claims);
- Corporate Insolvency proceedings (such as application for administration extensions);
- Partnership dissolution and winding up proceedings;
- Tax proceedings;
- Credit Hire proceedings;
- Residential and commercial possession proceedings;
- Boundary disputes (such as trials and an appeal presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the County Palatine of Lancaster);
- Consumer Credit Act 1974 proceedings relating to unfair relationship and irresponsible lending;
- Interlocutory applications (such as applications to prevent the enforcement of an order for possession and applications for provision under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975).
Anita seeks opportunities to develop a broad commercial chancery practice.
Prior to commencing pupillage Anita worked as a paralegal in commercial litigation, managing a heavy caseload of consumer credit claims and developing her advocacy and negotiation skills by representing clients at Early Neutral Evaluation hearings in the County Court.
Anita also worked as a County Court advocate, and has extensive trial experience in consumer credit and housing matters.
Anita has also worked as a volunteer trade union representative and as a caseworker drafting applications to the Criminal Case Review Commission. Additionally, she has developed an international legal outlook through an internship at the Human Rights Youth Organisation in Palermo, Italy, where she contributed to drafting project proposals and policies through the application of international legal instruments.
