Overview

Kate Pye-Jones joined Chambers in September 2018 having successfully completed a specialist family law pupillage. Kate has a strong and growing practice and accepts instructions in all areas of public and private law children matters and Family Law Act 1996 proceedings.

Kate is well prepared, thorough and approachable. She provides sound advice to clients in a sensitive and understanding manner. Kate prides herself on working hard and advocating strongly for her clients.

Public Law

Kate regularly represents local authorities, parents, children, the official solicitor and extended family members in care and adoption proceedings.

She undertakes all forms of hearings, including urgent hearings, case management hearings, multi-day contested final hearings and finding of fact hearings.

Kate has experience in cases involving issues of domestic abuse, neglect, physical, emotional and sexual abuse, substance misuse and non-accidental injury. Kate has undertaken the FLBA vulnerable witness training and often acts for vulnerable clients, including those with learning difficulties.

Private Law

Kate often represents parents, children and grandparents. She has experience in representing clients at the first dispute resolution appointment through to contested multi-day final hearings and finding of fact hearings.

Kate is instructed in child arrangement proceedings, internal and international relocation applications, specific issue order applications, prohibited steps order applications and contested special guardianship applications. Her experience spans issues of sexual abuse allegations, physical and emotional abuse, parental alienation, implacable hostility, domestic abuse and fabricated or induced illness.

Kate is also experienced in dealing with non-molestation order and occupation order applications.

Court of Protection

Kate is keen to develop her Court of Protection practice and accepts instructions in this area. Kate’s background in family law means that she is experienced in Deprivation of Liberty applications and proceedings which focus on best interest decisions.
