Overview

Samantha began practising as a barrister in May 2022, following a ten-year career as a solicitor.

Called to the Bar in 2009, she initially practised exclusively in Family Law before securing a position at a solicitors’ firm in Lancaster and undertaking cross-qualification as a solicitor, which she completed in 2012.

Since then, Samantha has practised in a number of private law firms, advising on all aspects of Family Law. She has particular experience in public and private law Children Act matters, regularly advising clients throughout Child Arrangements Order proceedings at all stages. She has also developed significant experience advising both applicants and respondents in injunction applications.

Samantha will be available to accept instructions from 1 June 2026 following her return from maternity leave.

Family

Since 2015, Samantha Jones has worked exclusively within local authorities, providing legal advice to social services in all matters relating to child welfare and protection. Samantha appears in court on a regular basis, dealing with a wide range of matters from Emergency Protection Orders, applications for Interim Care Orders, Deprivation of Liberty proceedings, Secure Accommodation Orders, and Forced Marriage Protection Orders.

Samantha deals with all levels of public law matters from cases of neglect, inflicted injury, Honour Based Violence and sexual abuse. Samantha also has experience of cases with cross-jurisdictional issues and has advised local authorities on issues relating to European children and families. Samantha has worked with the most vulnerable people in society and has supported those with additional needs with fair access to justice. Samantha has also appeared in court in matters relating to discharge of Care Orders, revocation of Placement Orders, and leave to oppose Adoption Orders.

Samantha Jones accepts instructions for representation on behalf of local authorities, parents and guardians, as well as any other represented party in all types of Children Act proceedings. Samantha is thorough, approachable and passionate about achieving the best outcome for her clients.
