Jonathan Savage and Helen Longworth, led by Jonathan Sandiford KC, have secured convictions in the largest money laundering trial in English legal history at Leeds Crown Court.
The trial of “Operation Larkshot” resulted in 4 defendants being convicted of what the sentencing Judge described as money laundering on an “eye watering scale”. Fowler Oldfield, a jewellery business in Bradford, received millions of pounds in cash delivered to premises in shopping bags and suitcases. The cash was then paid into the company bank account and used to buy gold bullion, the majority of which was sent to Dubai. Gregory Frankel and Daniel Rawson, directors of Fowler Oldfield ,and two other defendants Haroon Rashid and Arjun Babber, were convicted after a trial lasting 4 months and sentenced to between 10 and 12 years’ imprisonment.
