James Fryer-Spedding successful in High Court trust dispute, Martin v Wilkinson [2025] EWHC 3575 (Ch)
8th October 2026

James Fryer-Spedding has acted for the successful defendants in Martin v Wilkinson [2025] EWHC 3575 (Ch), a High Court claim concerning the ownership of company shares.

The case considered whether shares in a long-established property investment company formed part of the deceased’s estate or were held on trust for family members. The Court found that a valid trust had been created through the deceased’s words and conduct, despite there being no formal trust deed.

The judgment followed a complex, long-running dispute that went to trial. James was instructed by Johnny Coulthard, Partner at Burnetts Solicitors.

James specialises in business and property work and mediation.

Nine Chambers congratulates James on the outcome.
