Job Description
Nine Chambers is seeking to recruit a Diary Manager to join our Employment and Business & Property clerking team. Our reputation is built on the consistent delivery of the highest level of service, supported by exceptional clerking and administrative expertise.
We are looking for a confident and proactive individual with outstanding client-care skills, committed to delivering a first-class service to both clients and members, and who will play a key role in our continued success.
Previous clerking experience within Employment or Commercial practice areas would be advantageous, but is not essential. Above all, we are seeking someone with a strong work ethic, commercial awareness, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
The successful candidate will be confident across all aspects of diary management, including developing a detailed understanding of members’ practices; recommending appropriate barristers to meet client needs; managing bookings and workflows; liaising with courts and tribunals to fix hearings; and negotiating fees, both on a bespoke basis and in accordance with agreed schedules.
You will also play an important role in maintaining and strengthening client relationships, ensuring their needs are consistently met while identifying opportunities for new work.
Key Responsibilities
- Responding to queries from solicitor clients and barrister members
- Building and maintaining trusted relationships with clients and members
- Delivering a consistently efficient and high-quality service
- Managing barristers’ diaries independently
- Negotiating fees
- Supporting and attending marketing and networking events
Person Specification
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to liaise effectively with clients, barristers, members of the public, and court officials
- Strong judgment and decision-making abilities
- Confidence and calmness under pressure
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- A proactive, problem-solving approach
- Ability to prioritise workload and respond to changing demands
- Ability to take direction and apply learning effectively
What We Offer
In return, you will be part of a professional, friendly, and supportive clerking team, with genuine opportunities for development and career progression. We offer an excellent working environment in modern Chambers, located in a prime city centre location.
