Nine Chambers announces that Samantha Jones joins Nine Chambers
27th February 2026

Nine Chambers is pleased to welcome Samantha Jones, who joins Chambers with extensive experience in family law following a successful ten-year career as a solicitor.

Called to the Bar in 2009, Samantha commenced her legal career practising exclusively in family law. After securing a position with a firm in Lancaster, she cross-qualified as a solicitor in 2012 and subsequently practised within a number of private law firms, advising clients across the full breadth of family law matters. Her practice encompassed both public and private law Children Act proceedings, including Child Arrangements Orders at all stages, as well as applications for injunctive relief on behalf of both applicants and respondents.

Since 2015, Samantha has practised exclusively within local authorities, providing legal advice to social services in relation to child welfare and protection. She appears regularly before the courts and has developed expertise in complex public law proceedings, including applications pursuant to section 31 of the Children Act 1989, Emergency Protection Orders, Deprivation of Liberty applications, Secure Accommodation Orders, and Forced Marriage Protection Orders. She has acted on behalf of clients in multi-day contested hearings and final hearings, and has experience of matters before the Court of Appeal and the Family Division of the High Court.

Samantha has been instructed in cases involving neglect, non-accidental injury, honour-based abuse, and sexual abuse, as well as matters with cross-jurisdictional elements concerning European children and families. Her experience further includes applications for the discharge of Care Orders, revocation of Placement Orders, and leave to oppose the making of Adoption Orders.

Samantha accepts instructions on behalf of local authorities, parents, guardians, and other represented parties in all types of Children Act proceedings. She is recognised for her thorough and approachable manner, together with her commitment to achieving the best possible outcomes for those she represents.

Samantha will be available to accept instructions from 1 June 2026 following her return from maternity leave.
