Overview
Kate was called to the bar in 2005. She offers expert representation in all aspects of family law. Kate began by practising in London where she completed her pupillage. She soon moved to Manchester where her family law practice quickly expanded. She has now been in practice for almost 20 years. Kate regularly appears at all levels of the family courts, including the High Court.
Kate offers a practical and realistic approach to her cases which, when coupled with her empathetic manner, builds confidence with her clients who can immediately recognise that she is a determined advocate both out of court during negotiations and once in court as a litigator. Kate is widely recognised as a resolute advocate who will “fight to the end” for her client. Kate accepts instructions on a direct access basis and welcomes enquiries to her clerks.
Private Law
Kate regularly acts within private law applications, including where children should live and with whom they ought to spend their time. Kate has extensive experience of dealing with all court levels for these types of applications, from the Magistrates’ up to the Circuit bench.
Kate is an experienced and very able advocate when dealing with expert witnesses and regularly engages in complex expert cross-examination.
Kate’s lengthy experience makes her a perfect advocate for complicated and serious finding of facts within private law applications.
Ancillary relief
Kate has a particular interest in matrimonial finance and regularly represents clients in cases where the assets are in excess of £1million. She is able to offer early advice and efficiently identify negotiation strategies in the early stages of any proceedings. Kate offers expert representation from first appointments up to and including final hearings.
Public Law
Kate acts for local authorities, parents and guardian’s in public law cases. Her breadth of experience ensures that Kate is able to anticipate and deal with all the arguments and points which might arise.
Kate regularly acts in cases of serious findings of fact including, sexual abuse, non-accidental injuries and FGM. Again, Kate’s experience enables her to readily anticipate and deal with these cases as they develop.
