Simon Blakebrough appointed as District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts)

We are thrilled to congratulate Simon Blakebrough, former barrister at Nine Chambers, on his appointment as a District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts). This prestigious appointment was made by His Majesty The King on the advice of Lord Chancellor Shabana Mahmood MP and Lady Chief Justice, Baroness Carr.

Simon will take up his new role on 27 May 2025 at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, on the Northern Circuit.

With a distinguished 26-year career in criminal law, Simon has worked on both the prosecution and defence sides of high-profile cases, including those involving murder, rape, fraud, and major drug conspiracies. Called to the Bar in 2011, Simon is known for his meticulous preparation, calm authority, and strong advocacy—qualities that have earned him the respect of colleagues throughout the legal profession.

Having served as Deputy District Judge since 2022, Simon’s judicial credentials have been firmly established, and we are confident he will continue to thrive in this exciting next chapter of his career.
