Young Person Access Award Winner: Zamry Rizwan

Zamry has just finished his A-Levels. His passion for learning the law is infectious and was prompted by personal challenges experienced prompted his family’s experience under the UK asylum system. With his work ethic and the support of his tutors and mentors, Zamry will be the first member of his family to go to University. The 9SJS Access Award will be the start of his journey to discovering the Bar.

Zamry will be mentored throughout the year by Martin Mensah. He will be undertaking a mini pupillage with our Business & Property team and marshalling with Nicholas Clarke KC. Zamry will receive advocacy coaching from Robert Lassey which should help with any future mooting or debating. Chambers looks forward to watching Zamry grow and develop throughout the Award.

Zamry said of the Award: “As a young person the Award is a truly unique opportunity, not only because of what is included, but also due to it being offered at such an early stage. After telling my seniors about it, they all wished they could have participated when they were my age. To have this experience before my LLB is a real privilege. Going on a mini-pupillage straight after A-levels not only gives me an early insight into life at the Bar, but the advice I receive will be invaluable in informing the choices I make during my degree, journey to the Bar and practice. I strongly advise those interested to apply, and not be intimidated by the prospect of an interview. In reality it is a friendly conversation about you and your interests. You also receive the questions in advance so there are no surprises. I am so thankful to the Chambers and its staff for their time and effort in creating such an incredible opportunity! I look forward to the experience!”
