Jane is routinely instructed in complex and often protracted child arrangement disputes acting for parents, children, step-parents, grandparents and other extended family members. Her approachability and ability to handle clients of many different types has proved invaluable over the 26 years during which she has developed her practice in this area.

Jane is regularly instructed in cases involving allegations of coercive and controlling behaviour, physical, sexual and emotional abuse those involving allegations of alienating behaviours.  Many of these necessitate the instruction of expert witnesses and/or the involvement of specialist contact agencies. She is highly experienced in cases involving the reintroduction of contact after a long period of time and cases involving Rule 16.4 Guardians.

Jane is a skilful negotiator and prides herself on her ability to assist parents in reaching an agreed outcome wherever possible. However, where a contested hearing is required Jane is a strong and confident advocate who will forcefully argue the case for her client.

In addition to disputes in respect of the child arrangements, Jane accepts instructions in all applications under the Children Act 1989 ranging from enforcement orders to Schedule 1 applications for financial provision. She is regularly instructed in an applications for specific issue orders involving disputes over a child’s education, religious education and removal from the jurisdiction.

Matrimonial and Finance

In addition to her private law practice, Jane has developed a significant matrimonial finance practice. She is instructed from the preliminary stages (conferences and advisory work, FDAs,) through to and including final hearings. Jane is regularly instructed for FDR hearings both before the courts and those conducted on a private basis.

Her experience includes cases involving inherited assets, allegations of conduct and dissipation of assets, overseas assets and trusts. She has recently been involved in a number of cases involving section 37 applications and/or interveners and has been instructed by both the parties to the marriage and the intervener.

Jane adopts a practical and measured approach to financial cases. Her professional yet down to earth attitude is appealing to both clients and solicitors alike.

In addition Jane accepts instructions in respect of all applications under the Family Law Acts ranging from the more commonplace (non-molestation orders, occupation orders) to the less so (declarations of parentage).
