Overview
Samuel began his first six in September 2026 with the employment team under the supervision of Louise Quigley.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Samuel worked as a research assistant at the University of Oxford, where he interviewed workers and analysed their contracts to ascertain their employment status and working conditions.
Samuel completed his undergraduate degree in geography at UCL, achieving a first class with honours. Samuel was awarded a national prize for his undergraduate dissertation, which analysed the working conditions of a group of online gig workers.
Samuel attained a distinction in his GDL and a high distinction in his bar exams. He was twice awarded the Queen Mother Scholarship by Middle Temple and reached the final of the prestigious Rosamund Smith mooting competition.
Alongside his legal studies Samuel volunteered for three employment law advice clinics and authored legal articles for his university’s human rights blog. He also led conversation workshops with asylum seekers as part of a voluntary role he held at an asylum day centre.
In his spare time Samuel enjoys playing a variety of sport and exploring the national parks that surround Manchester.
