Understanding the Renters’ Rights Act 2025 – A Seminar with Harrison Edmonds and Greg Lawton
9th June 2026

Nine Chambers was delighted to host a seminar on the 4th of June, presented by barristers Greg Lawton and Harrison Edmonds.

The session provided a detailed examination of the changes introduced, and those planned to be introduced, by the Renters’ Rights Act 2025. Topics covered included the abolition of section 21 “no fault” evictions, reform of the section 8 grounds for possession, and a range of further reforms – among them the new framework for rent increases, the Decent Homes Standard, and a tenant’s ability to request a pet. Throughout, Greg and Harrison explored the wider rebalancing of rights and obligations between landlords and tenants that the Act seeks to achieve.

We were pleased to welcome a group of guests who joined us for the presentation, and we are grateful for their engagement and considered contributions throughout the afternoon.

Following the seminar, presenters and guests continued the conversation over food and drinks at Haunt MCR, a relaxed close to an informative afternoon and a welcome opportunity to connect.

Our thanks to everyone who attended.
